Kate winslet is very Stong :PLASTIC SURGERY
Los Angeles, CA – Celebrities have always been very active in the social realm, despite what most people believe. Ronald Reagan, long before he became President, was an outspoken Republican and John Wayne was probably known more for his political views than his movies for a long time. Advocacy in Hollywood has always been around, and likely always will be.
Lots of famous names have been attached to advocacy in recent years, and now one more has stepped up to express her opinion and fight against the many injustices of the world. Academy Award winner Kate Winslet has become the latest high-profile name to become such an advocate, using her star power to fight against the injustices and disparities in the world, fighting against plastic surgery.
“I will never give in. It goes against my morals, the way that my parents brought me up and what I consider to be natural beauty,” said Winslet of her battle against the cosmetic procedure, a cause she has taken up in the wake of rampant surgeries throughout the Hollywood community.
“Kate really feels passionately about this issue. She has always spoken about her distaste for plastic surgery but now she is finally coming out publicly and hopes that that will help change things. She just felt she could no longer sit back and watch it spread across the globe,” said an insider. “Kate feels that this has become a plague, nearly as bad as AIDS or racism. She feels like it must be stamped out now in order to avoid poorer countries from being infected by it. She knows there are limits to what she can do, but she has to try.”
Winslet has also recruited friend and former co-star Emma Thompson to the cause. The pair hopes to bring international attention to the issue.
Kate Winslet New Project
The Titanic actress set up her Golden Hat Foundation after narrating 2009 documentary A Mother’s Courage: Talking Back to Autism, and last year (11) she came up with a unique way of raising its profile.
Winslet invited her A-list pals including Jude Law, Christina Aguilera and Demi Moore to don her beloved trilby for a photobook – and she was stunned at the positive response from her Hollywood friends.
She tells Marie Claire magazine, “”So I came up with this idea… to send my favourite beaten-up trilby to as many well-known people as I could track down and ask them to photograph themselves wearing it. I would then make a book of self-portraits… Amazingly, nearly every person I asked said yes.”"
Still Remember those Dreadful Happenings : 100th anniversary of the Titanic
The world’s largest, most luxurious, and supposedly unsinkable ocean liner was traveling from the British city of Southampton to New York on its maiden voyage a century ago when it hit an iceberg in the North Atlantic. The ship sank in less than three hours. More than 1,500 people died.
Fascination with the ill-fated ship seems endless. There are exhibits, talks, plays, documentaries, and new books coinciding with the anniversary, as well as a 3-D release of the Academy Award-winning film Titanic, starring Leonardo di Caprio and Kate Winslet.
A memorial cruise left England a week ago to retrace the Titanic’s route. Many of the passengers aboard the Balmoral are relatives of those who lost their lives in the disaster. A memorial service was held Sunday aboard theBalmoral at the spot where the Titanic went down.
Richard Davenport-Hines – author of a book titled Voyagers of the Titanicabout the people aboard the ill-fated ship – says the disaster still fascinates people because it evokes contemporary concerns about the dangers of seemingly failure-proof technology. Scientists say the rivets that held together the grandest ship of its time were too weak to withstand the iceberg’s impact, so the Titanic’s hull ripped apart like a seam along a tin can.
Kate Winslet will not watch nude Scene of Titanic
At last night’s Titanic in 3-D premiere, Kate Winslet said she wouldn’t watch her nude scenes. ”I’m not going to look,” she told theMetro. “I’ll be in the bar by that point or on the floor.” Why? ”It is like being forced to go through a photo album of your former self for three and a half hours solidly,” she explained. But wait, isn’t that usually kind of fun? Especially when you look like Kate Winslet?
kate winslet love “My heart will go on” song
Don’t tell Celine Dion, but Kate Winslet doesn’t exactly get verklempt over “My Heart Will Go On.”
The Oscar-winning actress, 36, says the classic Titanic theme song beloved by some and loathed by others seems to follow and “haunt” her wherever she goes, nearly 15 years after the blockbuster film and soundtrack were released.
“I wish I could say, ‘Oh listen, everybody! It’s the Celine Dion song!’ But I don’t,” Winslet, now promoting the new 3-D version of Titanic, confessed to MTV News. “I just have to sit there, you know, kind of straight-faced with a massive internal eye roll.”
The emotional, chart-topping ballad makes her “feel like throwing up,” the Mildred Pierce star said. “It’s thrilling for people to surprise me with the Celine Dion song.”
The torture got even worse recently when she did an Italian TV talk show, and “they actually had a live pianist who started gently playing the theme song.”
